Joan Ballman

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Joan Ballman, our tenant at the Locomotive Inn in Exeter. Joan was a legend in every sense of the word, having run the Locomotive Inn for 33 years and before that the Mitre Inn, another Heavitree pub also in Exeter.

Joan was a much loved landlady who ran her pub with great skill and diplomacy – she will be sorely missed by all who knew her including every one of us here at Heavitree Brewery.

Joan’s funeral will be held at Exeter Crematorium on Monday 13 December at 12.30pm followed by her wake back at the Locomotive Inn where she will be remembered by her many friends and customers.
